Haute Combat

Emma Knorpp doesn’t look like what most people picture when they think of a boxer. She’s a fashion student, a stylist, a creative, and a freshly crowned national champion. For Emma, her contrast in abilities is exactly the point.

In a sport still largely dominated by men, the barriers keeping women out aren’t always explicit. They’re atmospheric. It’s walking into a gym and seeing no one who looks like you, and the unspoken assumption that femininity and fighting don’t mix. Emma knows this firsthand and is using her duality to convince more women to help change this atmosphere.

Drawing on her background in fashion, Emma is using her multi-facited identity to invite women into the sport of boxing by proving there’s no mold they need to fit in order to be a competitive boxer.
